Would you like to be a part of an award winning healthcare system full of award winning nurses? Read about Parkwest Medical Center’s most recent Daisy Award winning nurse Jodi Counts.
A nurse at Parkwest Medical Center was honored this week with The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day. The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by the family of a patient who had received extraordinary care and compassion from his nurses during his final days. One of Parkwest’s DAISY honorees for April is Jodi Counts, RN.
Jodi works in Diagnostic Radiology, and has been a nurse at Parkwest for eleven years. She was nominated by a patient, Joyce C.
Joyce wrote, “I came in to Parkwest on March 21, for a biopsy for infection in my back and for a CT scan in outpatient. Everyone from registration, outpatient staff and nurses were great and compassionate to me. Jodie was the nurse that spent the most time with me and she treated me like an old friend even though we had never met!
Jodi took care of my like she would want one of her family members to be cared for. Having the biopsy done for a 2nd time was painful and scary. When I was anxious and crying, Jodi knew exactly what to do to reassure me that things would be alright and comforted me.
Jodi’s kindness was more than taking care of my physical needs and comfort, the kindness was “her,” and she gave me the love and reassurance things were going to be OK.
I would be praying and she would pray with me. Jodi did things to comfort me before I could ask. I told Jodi to turn around, I think I see “angel wings” growing out of her back.
I could list 100 ways she comforted me, but her love and compassion for me (and her other patients) was outstanding.
Thank you for having this award to give me the opportunity to tell the hospital about my sweet nurse, Jodi Counts.”
