Holiday letter to the community from Parkwest CAO Neil Heatherly

Parkwest was the first in our region to offer Transaortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) – and this year we celebrated the milestone of over 500 successful procedures performed.  Our Emergency Care Center has treated a record number of emergencies this year, over 50,000. Our team has performed over 15,000 surgeries. We’ve admitted approximately 17,500 patients, and assisted patients with 152,000 outpatient visits. And our childbirth center is on track to exceed 1,600 deliveries in 2017. In addition, our team at Peninsula Hospital provided behavioral health care to 4,700 inpatient admissions and 83,000 outpatient visits.

We’ve come a long way since the early 1970s, when a group of visionary physicians including Martin Davis, MD, and my father, Wayne Heatherly, recognized the growth potential for West Knoxville and decided to build a hospital in the middle of what was then an empty field. Our region has grown exponentially and hasa changed to meet the community’s needs. So has Parkwest. In October, we broke ground on a $99 million expansion and renovation project that is now becoming quite visible on our campus. The surgical expansion project will add a patient tower, more operating rooms, a new surgery patient enterance, new classroom space, and expansive surface parking. Treated Well. Well Treated is more than our slogan, it is the foundation of our commitment to our patients. We strive for Parkwest’s clinical and service excellence to make us the first and best choice for our patients, physicians, employees and volunteers in the community. In fact, our goal is to provide exceptional care to every patient, every time by putting our patients first in all that we do. We welcome your feedback about your Parkwest experience to help us better meet your needs. I wish you all the best this holiday season. Thank you again, for entrusting Parkwest with your healthcare. Best wishes for a healthy and happy New Year!
